Chicago Legal Recruiter

Laura RuscheLAURA RUSCHE, Esq., a Partner at Mendelsohn Legal, began her legal career as a commercial litigator and practiced with a number of well-known large firms here in Chicago. While she enjoyed aspects of her litigation practice, Laura longed for a career that would allow her to use the insight and experience she gained while working in the law firm setting to help people improve the quality of their lives. Legal recruiting was a natural transition, and Laura has spent the last eight years dedicated to placing partners, associates and groups into law firms and in-house roles throughout the United States, with a particular focus on the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions (Chicago, Denver, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Madison, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Kansas City, and all major cities in Ohio and Iowa, among others).

Laura has long held onto her steadfast belief that an effective recruiter must take the time to learn about each individual candidate in order to adequately identify positions that meet the particular objectives and goals of the attorney. As part of this process, she spends significant time editing and revising the resume and/or business plan of each candidate. She also develops strong, long-term relationships with her clients and therefore knows a great deal about each specific role on which she works as well as the types of candidates that will succeed within a particular client's culture and atmosphere.

A Chicago-native, Laura attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated, cum laude, with a degree in Psychology in 1995. She then returned to Chicago and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago. In 1998, Laura once again returned to school, this time to study law at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she served as the Executive Editor of Student Articles on the school's law review and graduated, cum laude, in 2001.
